Board Member Profile: Cheryl Timyan
“The world is changing,” Cheryl says, “and we have to change also. It’s HOW we go about reaching young people for Christ. Younger people need Christ in their lives, now more than ever. Through the Internet we can effectively reach them in the ways they listen to most.” Cheryl was first introduced to Gospel Communications by friends Doug and Maria DeVos. She was immediately taken with the mission – and realized the immense potential and resources of the Internet. When later asked to serve on the Board, Cheryl felt that the timing was right. “I knew it would be a blessing to give of my time, talents and financial resources to GCI – so I did.” And she hasn’t looked back since. Cheryl and her husband Steve have four sons, ages 22 to 12. “Our sons are gifts from above. We are having so much fun raising them; really enjoying the blessings of parenthood.” She grew up right here in Michigan, in the city of Grand Blanc. Both she and Steve are graduates of Michigan State University. Cheryl has been a leader of the women’s Bible study Common Ground for many years. In addition, the Timyans have also been involved with Young Life and the Forest Hills Educational Foundation. The family calls Grand Rapids home and attends Ada Bible Church. Cheryl brings a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and energy to the Gospel Communications Board of Directors. She shares her 15 years of corporate marketing, management, sales and competitive intelligence with the team – along with her conviction, her faith and her insights as a mother of growing children. We are blessed to have her commitment and encouragement. |
